Day 5 - Puente La Reina - Maneru (then to Ayegui)

Another day starting off in the dark.

We began walking through the cobblestoned streets of Puente La Reina before hitting natural track up to Maneru.

At this point, my feet were in incredible pain and I was barely hobbling along at 2km/h with breaks every few minutes.

Once we reached Maneru, we decided I need to go to the doctor so we taxied back to Puente La Reina

In an amazing piece of luck we had the same taxi driver that we used the night before.

We then had to wait an excruciatingly long and boring three hours to see the doctor. This did give us time to see the famous romanesque bridge in daylight and tend to my blisters some more.

After a rather interesting consult with the doctor going back and forth with google translate, I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and said to rest for 1-2 days.

Before leaving Australia I packed an extra supply of Meloxicam (a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug) and the doctore recommended that Alice should take some of that as well. (I had already made tht decsion and she had started the night before).

After visiting the doctor we caught a taxi forward to Ayegui as Alice was deteermined to see the wine fountain. We got th same taxi driver again for the third time in two days!

Tomorrow, we will bus forward to Logroño and begin walking on the 23rd again.
